Visakhapatnam Rejuvenation Project
GIFT has launched a development project with community participation on 26th July 2003 for the rejuvenation of Visakhapatnam. The project is based on a set of beliefs and convictions that:

Visakhapatnam Development Report, prepared by GITAM Institute of Foreign Trade was discussed by eminent citizens in GITAM Campus, Visakhapatnam on 26th July 2003 and by a group of parliamentarians, civil servants and media personnel in the Parliament Annexe on 19th August2003. The Next Step: Visakhapatnam Development Programme
We are deeply committed to Visakhapatnam Development. As part of our community and corporate social responsibility we are launching this year a study of skills inventory, identify employment opportunities and skills gap in and around Visakhapatnam, adopt at least one rural cluster of artisans and undertake developmental program for nurturing rural entrepreneurship.
GIFT Public Lecture Series
The Institute launched the GIFT Public Lecture series inaugurated by Sri V Narasimhan, former UN Under-Secretary General. The first Public Lecture was delivered by Professor Anil Verma of Toronto University, Canada on ‘International Labour Standards’. During the academic session 2003-04 two more Public Lectures were organized. Professor S C Srivastava, Research Professor, National Law School, New Delhi and Professor Nagesh Kumar, Director, Research and Information Centre for Non-aligned and other countries delivered lectures on ‘Geographical Indications and Intellectual Property Rights under the WTO Regime’ and ‘foreign Direct Investment in India’ respectively. In the academic session 2004-05, two more Public Lecture have been organized. The 4th Public Lecture on “Changing Global Scenario on Food Safety, Trade and Public Health: Challenges for Indian Farmers, Industry & Consumers” was delivered by Mr Vijay Sardana, Executive Director, Centre for International Trade in Agriculture & Agro-based Industries, New Delhi. Dr Sid Gautam, Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship, Methodist College, Fayetteville, N Carolina, USA delivered the 5th public lecture on Entrepreneurship.
